How to Measure Jacket Size

US · EU · UK · USSR / Soviet

Finding your jacket size requires four key measurements: chest, shoulder width, sleeve length, and back length. Here is how to take each one accurately.

Chest Measurement

Measure around the fullest part of the chest under the arms. For vintage US sizing, this number in inches is your jacket size. For EU/USSR, your size is approximately this measurement in cm divided by 2.

Shoulder Width

Measure from shoulder seam to shoulder seam across the back. This is the hardest measurement to alter on a vintage jacket — if the shoulders don't fit, the jacket won't work.
